A modern person cannot do without a watch, because sometimes it is necessary to know the exact time so as not to be late for an important meeting or any other meeting. Each customer decides for himself which watch to choose, but before making a purchase, it is necessary to decide on the type of clock mechanism.
Watches are not only considered a beautiful piece of jewelry, they also function as timekeepers. The quality of watches depends on many things, but their fundamental role is assigned to the watch mechanism.
There are three main types of clockwork:
- electronic;
- mechanical;
- quartz.
Mechanical watches
Mechanical watches are considered the most ancient. Since the day of their invention, they have been repeatedly improved and modified. The driving force of such a mechanism is the unwinding energy of a wrapped tight spring, which drives a very small pendulum, which transfers rotation to the executing gears.
The advantages of a mechanical watch:
- constant improvements and improvements;
- trendy vintage style;
- comfortable dial;
- high efficiency.
The only drawback is the unevenness of the final effort.
When the spring is in the maximum compressed state, energy is also produced at the maximum; when the spring weakened, a decrease in energy occurs. Such an uneven force of the spring leads to the appearance of inaccuracies in the determined time, despite the existence of GOST, which takes into account the maximum permissible error.
An improved version and a kind of way out of this situation is a mechanism with an automatic semi-winding. More prestigious models and analogs of branded watches can boast of such a mechanism. The automatic semi-winding spins the spring as it weakens. Energy is generated by the watch's natural vibrational movements, such as the movement of the hand while walking.
This device is quite complex, replacing its parts in case of breakdown will be an expensive pleasure. It makes no sense to buy such a watch for people whose lifestyle is devoid of active movement.
Quartz movement
A quartz watch consumes the energy of movement obtained from an ordinary battery or a small photocell. The impulses are transmitted through a quartz crystal to a small electric motor, which, in turn, affects the movement of the gears of the mechanism.
Advantages:
- independence from the mode of use;
- high accuracy.
The disadvantage is that the watch is in a rush when the crystals wear out.
Electronic gear
The electronic movement is one of the latest achievements in watchmaking technology. The energy received from the batteries is transferred to the mechanism, which turns on or off at the moment of "X" the necessary parts of the small screen, thereby forming numbers. Such wristwatches have a higher accuracy in comparison with all other types.
