With the help of thermal stickers, you can radically transform an old thing, hide a fabric defect, and decorate it. In order for the image to stick firmly and not to deform at the same time, you need to know the rules for performing this procedure.

It is necessary

  • - thermal sticker
  • - ironing board
  • - iron
  • - paper

Step 1

Thermal transfer (thermal transfer) is an application in the form of a picture or an inscription, on the back of which an adhesive layer is applied. This product is used to decorate or hide fabric defects. There are thermal stickers for decorating Easter eggs. They are made of film, decorated with various images, which has the property of shrinking under the influence of high temperature (in this case, hot water) and tightly fitting the object on which they are applied.

Step 2

To fix the thermal sticker on the fabric, you need to prepare a firm, flat surface. The best option is an ironing board. If it is not there, you can spread a woolen blanket or thick fabric folded 2-3 times on the floor or table. Particular attention should be paid to leveling the thing on which the thermal sticker is applied: it should be laid out so that it does not have the slightest wrinkles. The quality of the applique gluing depends on the exact fulfillment of this condition.

Step 3

Then they start cutting out the sticker. Typically, the image is surrounded by a cloth that needs to be removed. For this purpose, take scissors and cut the applique as close to its edge as possible. You should try not to leave a single end of the thread of the fabric base. Then it is finally determined with the location of the applique. It is moved over the fabric until the most acceptable one is found. This point is especially important if, with the help of thermal stickers, they are going to mask a defect in clothing: a hole, a tightening, a slit, a stain, etc.

Step 4

After that, turn on the iron and set the maximum heating level. The steaming mode must be turned off. But if the application is thin or there are elements of plastic or rubberized fabric in it, the temperature of the iron is selected by the method of tests. To do this, first set a small heating level and check on an inconspicuous area of the sticker how it will withstand this temperature. If deformation and melting does not occur, and the adhesive side sticks to the fabric, then the temperature of the iron is suitable.

Step 5

Next, cover the thermal sticker with a clean sheet of paper (preferably landscape) and set the iron on it, trying not to displace the application. After that, pressure is applied for 10-15 seconds. If the sticker is larger than the size of the paper, sticking is done in parts, moving the paper and pressing on it with the iron. Particular attention should be paid to the small details of the applique and its edges.

Step 6

After this procedure, the sticker must be allowed to cool. This will take 20 seconds. After that, the paper is carefully removed and it is found out if all the details of the drawing are glued properly. If not, the process is repeated more carefully.
