Experts from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine have calculated the total weight of the world's population. Study co-author Ian Roberts argues that there are strong regional differences in the average population.

The total weight of the world's population is estimated at 287 million tons. Moreover, 15 million tons weigh people with excessive and overweight. 3.5 million - people suffering from obesity to one degree or another. Most of all, the population of North America weighs, where every second inhabitant is more than 35% overweight. The governments of countries thinking about sustainable economic development are paying increased attention to the size of the population. In fact, this is not so important. The main thing is not to think about how many mouths you will have to feed, but about the body weight of the entire population. The higher the weight, the more food resources are consumed. The World Health Organization has established that the average body weight of one inhabitant of the planet Earth is 62 kilograms. At the same time, one inhabitant of North America weighs more than 80, 7 kg, while the weight of an inhabitant of Asia does not exceed 57, 7 kg. The entire population of Asia accounts for 61% of the total world population. North America is home to only 6% of the world's population. The Russians have recently begun to weigh much more. If in the middle of the last century every tenth inhabitant of Russia was overweight, now every fifth citizen of the Russian Federation is overweight. All calculations were made in order to determine the global and regional level of consumption of all resources. The greater the regional weight of the population, the greater the level of consumption of not only food, but also energy resources. The overweight population leads a sedentary lifestyle, uses a large amount of gasoline, electric energy, providing themselves with conditions for a comfortable stay. All this leads to a general lack of resources and rapid environmental pollution. Scientists hope that by coping with the problem of overweight, the world's population will weigh significantly less, and it will be possible to solve the global problem of lack of resources.
