The train schedule on the railroad is compiled on the basis of the train schedule. Its violation is unacceptable. The schedule may change depending on the season following the change in the volume of traffic.

How train schedules are made

On the schedule, the trains are distributed in a certain sequence according to the main categories. First, branded passenger, then fast, suburban, then freight express and transit. Last but not least, the schedule of trains for local operation is drawn up.

Five basic principles for scheduling trains

- the need for the transportation of passengers and goods;

- traffic safety;

- rational use of rolling stock;

- the state of the throughput and carrying capacity of the sections and the processing capacity of the stations;

- established duration of continuous work of locomotive crews.

The schedule is drawn up annually for all railways at the same time and is partially adjusted when the technical equipment of the sections changes. On some sections, only freight train timetables may change.

When scheduling, be sure to take into account such a factor as rationality in the use of resources. This includes electricity, fuel, locomotives. Traffic safety and the effectiveness of the use of spans and station tracks are also very important. It should not be overlooked that tracks or structures can be repaired.

Passenger trains are year-round and non-year-round. For example, summer trains are introduced when seasonal passenger traffic increases or on holidays and pre-holidays. For the transportation of tourists, there are special passenger trains, which often run on certain days. For express freight trains and work trains, the timetable is compiled separately.

What does the train schedule consist of?

The timetable, which is posted at the railway station, indicates the individual train number. The numbers for fast passenger trains are assigned in the range from 1 to 98. The sections of the train passage consist of two tracks - even and odd. Trains traveling along an even track are assigned an even number, and those traveling along an odd track (in the opposite direction) are assigned an odd number.

The timetable is compiled according to the same rules for any type of train. New stops are constantly added or old ones are excluded.

It must indicate the time of arrival, departure and travel of trains for each separate point. The movement of trains takes place according to Moscow time.

For drivers, station attendants and other employees of the railway, an official train schedule is drawn up. It shows in the form of a table the departure time and the duration of the stops. The service schedule contains information on the number of automatic and hand brakes, sets the numbering of trains, tables of tare weight and the conditional length of each train. It also contains a table of the time required for each segment of the train movement.
