You need to know your height in many cases, for example, when choosing clothes, calculating body mass ratio and in other situations. However, in order to determine this important indicator at home, you need to know the measurement technology.
Instructions
Step 1
Choose the right time to measure your height. It is best to do this in the morning, since in the evening, due to the load on the spine and joints, a person's height can decrease by several millimeters. The same pattern, but in the direction of increase, is valid when measuring the foot.
Step 2
Measure your height using special equipment. This can be done, for example, at the gym or when visiting a therapist. For these purposes, use a stadiometer, while it is best to involve an assistant to achieve greater measurement accuracy. Approach the graduated bar of the stadiometer. Then remove your shoes so that the reading is not distorted by the soles or heels. You should stand close to her, so that the planks touch your back of your head, buttocks and heels. Straighten your back and do not bend your knees. In this case, your assistant should lower the movable part of the stadiometer so that it touches the crown of the head. The indicator above the crown will indicate your exact height. If necessary, using the same device, you can also find out your height while sitting. It is measured in a similar manner, from the top of the head to the floor with the knees bent into a ninety-degree angle while sitting.
Step 3
If necessary, at home. To do this, take a measuring tape and a pencil. Lean with your back against a wall or door, observing the requirements already given for measuring with a height meter. Draw a pencil line above your head. Move away from the wall and measure the distance from the line to the floor, which will be your height.
Step 4
If you do not have a ruler and stadiometer, use an alternative method. Find someone who knows your height and lean against their back with yours. After analyzing the resulting difference, you can determine your approximate height.
