Composition and properties of polyester

Polyester is a type of synthetic fabric. It is made from polyester fibers, therefore it is also called "polyester". Polyester fibers are obtained from special oil refining. First, the substance is polystyrene, and polyester is already removed from it. Fibers are made of polyester, which are stretched to the required state. The resulting fibers are intertwined to form a web. Often fibers from other materials are added to polyester: wool, viscose. This changes the density and smoothness of the final material.

Polyester fabric has many benefits. It is pleasant to the touch, despite its unnatural origin. In appearance, polyester is similar to woolen fabric, in terms of characteristics, it is similar to cotton fiber. The 100% polyester fabric is very durable and resistant to abrasion. It is lightweight and almost wrinkle-free, dries quickly after washing. With strong heating, such a material can be given a stable shape, which is actively used by designers. Polyester does not heat up well in the sun and almost always stays cool.

The polyester fabric does not change under the influence of sunlight, it retains its original appearance and brightness for a long time. In such a product, moths or other pests will never start. Polyester is almost non-electrifying, and it is difficult to plant a stable stain on it. Among the disadvantages can be called low air permeability. Therefore, it is undesirable to wear clothes made of 100% polyester in the summer. If your choice nevertheless fell on such a product, there should be more cuts and notches in it, which will improve air circulation.

Washing and care

The rules of care and washing are pretty simple, but worth getting familiar with. Check the label on the garment before washing for the manufacturer's recommendations. Most often, it is necessary to wash in water no warmer than 40 degrees. High temperatures can cause the polyester fiber to deform. Do not use bleach.

If hand wash is required, prepare a warm solution of water and powder. Do not wash with your hands. If you need to remove the stain, apply a regular detergent, scrub it with the convex side of a spoon, and let it sit for a while. Polyester items do not need to be ironed at all. It is enough to straighten the fabric properly and leave it to dry, then there will be no folds. When ironing with an iron, select gentle temperature conditions and iron through cheesecloth.
