Step 1
Determine the type of cargo. If the cargo is afraid of moisture, it will need to be transported in a covered wagon with high strong walls and a roof. This is how, for example, grain and light industry products are transported. If you need to transport construction materials, timber or ore, choose platforms for transportation that have convenient hinged low sides. In addition, gondola cars with higher sides are suitable for such transportation, and there are hatches in the floor through which it is convenient to pour out the load. Liquid cargo should be transported in a tank wagon, which is a cylindrical container made of metal and placed on wheels. Perishable foodstuffs are transported in special wagons. They maintain and regulate the required temperature, which is why they are called machine-cooled cars.
Step 2
Calculate the weight of the load. If its weight does not allow it to be placed either in a gondola car or on a platform, it will need to be transported in conveyors that have powerful metal structures and can withstand a load of up to 500 tons. If the weight of the cargo does not exceed 70 tons, it can be transported in the usual way. If the cargo can be divided into several parts, calculate in advance how many wagons you will need to order.
Step 3
Choose a company that will handle the transportation. It must be reliable. The factors that a certain company additionally provides such services as loading, transportation to the carriage, will testify in its favor. If there are no such services, think over the method of transporting the cargo to the wagon and determine who will load the cargo into the wagon. In addition, negotiate with the host about unloading and transportation.
Step 4
Register your cargo. Provide information about the sender and recipient, the starting and ending stations of the path. Describe the cargo: what is transported, in what volume, how many places, wagons it takes. Make sure that you are provided with information about the date and time of arrival of the cargo, the number of the carriage and the train in which it will travel. Draw up an act of acceptance and transfer of cargo and pay for its transportation.
