A device called a thermal imager has found application in various spheres of human life. First of all, it is intended to monitor the distribution of the temperature regime inside the object under study, by displaying rays in the infrared spectrum.

Instructions

Step 1

Many people think about how a thermal imager works when they see a funny color picture of the thermal spectrum, and the secret is quite simple. Each such device is equipped with a special infrared camera, which is necessary for non-contact recording of thermal radiation from different types of objects. It converts signals into digital images directed to the device to which the thermal imager is connected. This image is thermal imaging.

Step 2

This device has a rather high price characteristic, because new generation devices are used to create it: special lenses, matrices and much more. It is they that allow reliable and high-quality transmission of data from the thermal imager. Stationary thermal imagers are considered the most expensive; they managed to find a fairly wide application.

Step 3

The device has become an indispensable assistant in large industrial plants and in small organizations, where it is mainly used to detect problems with electrical wiring. It is also in demand in the construction industry. It is used where huge structures need to be built. The thermal imager allows you to detect sources of heat loss and correct any shortcomings in the work with thermal insulation. It is thanks to this unique ability of the thermal imager that it is possible to prevent the construction of low-quality structures.

Step 4

Firefighters and rescuers use thermal imagers in order to detect fires in conditions of increased smoke and conduct a kind of analysis of the crash site, as well as find a way out for the evacuation of people trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building.

Step 5

Currently, thermal imagers are actively used in military weapons and modern technology. The sights are equipped with thermal imagers, which makes it possible to detect the enemy at absolutely any time of the day or night. For the first time, the Chinese Border Guard Service used these devices to identify tourists and incoming residents of the country with an elevated body temperature during the development of the avian flu epidemic, which claimed 150 lives in the Celestial Empire.

Step 6

If you are inspecting a building for heat loss, position yourself no more than 25 meters from the building so that the area to be inspected is not obstructed by foreign objects: cars, animals, plants. Turn on the handheld thermal imager and aim the locator at the target area. Fix the position of the locator for a few seconds and save the screen picture in the device's memory. Then, without changing the frequency and other settings of the device, move to the next surveyed area. Save the captured data every time before changing the location.

Step 7

When inspecting electrical networks for damage, be sure to use protective equipment: rubber gloves, a helmet. Position yourself at a distance of at least 70 centimeters from the inspected object and turn on the thermal imager. Set the maximum sensitivity of the locator and test the result: point the device at a de-energized cable and at one that is energized. Color characteristics must be polar.

Step 8

If the device is working correctly, proceed to inspect the object, but do not touch it even if you are inspecting closed boxes and assemblies. Save an image of each damaged area found with an exact indication of its location (support number, footage, etc.).
