Currently, in the hypermarkets of electronics and household appliances, a wide range of gas and electric stoves is widely presented. You can choose a model with the set of functions that best meets the needs of the consumer. One of the most requested functions is the automatic electric ignition.

What is electric ignition

Electric ignition is one of the most convenient inventions for modern hobs and stoves. He made their operation as comfortable as possible. Electric ignition makes it possible to light a flame in a burner quickly, safely and without the use of improvised means in the form of matches or lighters. In order for a flame to appear, simply turn the lever that supplies gas, or press an additional button.

And this is precisely the nuance that divides electric ignition into automatic and mechanical, which is also called semi-automatic.

If the electric ignition is mechanical, when you turn the burner switch, you must simultaneously press a special button that simulates a lit match and is essentially responsible for the spark. If the electric ignition is automatic, the connection works even easier.

Automatic electric ignition and its principle of operation

Automatic electric ignition means that the gas is ignited simply by turning the knob. In this case, there is no need to turn any additional knobs or press buttons.

The principle of operation of such an electric ignition is quite simple. To turn on the burner, you just need to slightly drown the switch with a light press and turn it at the same time. At the moment of switching on, the candle circuit is closed, as a result of which a spark is created between the electrodes located next to the gas holes. It is she who ignites the burner.

The mechanism of electric ignition of the gas stove itself can be seen if you remove the flame divider plate from the burner. On the side, in a small recess, there is the electric ignition itself.

Requirements for the stove with electric ignition

The electric ignition hob must be connected to the mains. And for this you need a grounded socket. If it is not nearby, they make a separate wiring. In this case, the wire must be three-core and with a cross-section of at least 1.5 mm in diameter. And in parallel, the electrical panel must be equipped with a 16A protection element. It can be an RCD or differential, or a conventional machine. As for the cord itself, it is usually included in the default set of electric ignition gas stoves. If it is absent, it is made independently using a three-core wire of suitable cross-section and a plug with grounding contacts. But you can buy it.
