In apartments, you can sometimes find lemon trees growing in ordinary pots. This plant is quite decorative and looks great both in rooms and in winter gardens. But many complain that despite their best efforts, indoor lemons do not produce flowers or fruits. One way to get a lemon to fructify is to inoculate an already fruiting lemon with the bud.

Instructions

Step 1

As with all citrus fruits, for lemons, budding is considered the most suitable. But before grafting, the tree should get stronger and have a fairly thick trunk and branches. Practice beforehand on other plants - willow, lilac.

Step 2

Choose the right time for vaccination. It must be done when the tree is in the phase of active sap flow, at which time its bark easily lags behind the wood. You can find out that this deadline has come by the presence of 5-6 young leaves on the growth. In the event that the bark lags behind badly, the vaccine will most likely not take root.

Step 3

Using a rounding knife, make a thin cut of the bud from the stem of a fruiting lemon. Then make a T-shaped incision where you will be grafting the kidney. When separating the bud, hold it by the leaf petiole without touching the cut with your hands.

Step 4

With the back of the budding knife, bend the bark at the incision with a special metal plate and insert the grafted kidney under it. Smooth the incision site with the same plate, bring the bark to its original state.

Step 5

Perform the piping carefully, do not leave gaps through which moisture can evaporate. The harness must be tight enough to ensure complete alignment of the grafted kidney. You can use duct tape or tape for this. To be on the safe side, vaccinate 2-3 more kidneys.

Step 6

The kidneys take root within three weeks. If the leaf petiole near the eye began to turn yellow and then fell off, then your vaccination was successful. Remove part of the branch at a distance of 10 cm from the grafted bud, remove the bandage and remove the shoots at the bottom of the plant so that the grafts develop better.
