Jewelry darkens over time, a plaque appears on them, especially on openwork jewelry. Often this happens with silver chains, gold is less prone to tarnishing. But if you clean them, they will shine like new.
Necessary
- - dish detergent;
- - soda;
- - salt;
- - hydrogen peroxide;
- - ammonia;
- - toothpaste or mouthwash;
- - liquid for jewelry.
Instructions
Step 1
Add a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid, a little salt and soda (0.5 tsp each) to 200 ml of clean water. Put the solution on low heat. As soon as the water starts to boil, dip the chain into the solution and let sit for 30 minutes. Then rinse the jewelry in cold water and dry with a soft cloth. If moisture remains on the product, it may darken again.
Step 2
Pour 50 ml of water into a glass and add a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and an ampoule of ammonia. Place the chain in the solution and let it sit overnight. Rinse in the morning and you can start wearing. Usually, such a solution removes plaque well, but if there is no effect, repeat what was done again, only this time increase the time to 24 hours.
Step 3
A toothpaste solution whitens jewelry well. It can also be replaced with a mouthwash. Place the chain in the liquid for 6-12 hours. Rinse thoroughly under running water after the time has elapsed.
Step 4
Buy a liquid that is used to clean your jewelry at home. Use as instructed. Usually you need to pour some solution into a glass beaker, immerse the product for 5-10 minutes and rinse with clean water. After processing, the chain will sparkle like new. The liquid can be used to clean silver jewelry as well as gold or platinum jewelry.
Step 5
Hand the product into the hands of a professional if you have not been able to remove plaque from the chain at home or if it has not disappeared into hard-to-reach places (between the links). The jeweler will bleach the product using special solutions, and, if necessary, carry out mechanical cleaning.
