To build a pattern, you need to know several sizes, including the volume of the hips. Measurements must be taken accurately, otherwise the clothes sewn according to the pattern will turn out to be too tight or, conversely, baggy. It is best to take measurements with an assistant to maintain the correct body position.
Necessary
- - tape measure;
- - paper;
- - pencil.
Instructions
Step 1
Take off all unnecessary things from yourself. It is best to shoot the size of the hips in thin panties or even on a naked body. In any case, you need to take off your pants or skirt, as well as tight-fitting tights. Trousers, especially those made of dense fabric, will add a couple of centimeters to the actual measurement, or even more. If you are wearing tight tights, do not be surprised that the size will turn out to be smaller than the real one.
Step 2
Stand up straight. Place your feet parallel. Raise your arms slightly and bend at the elbows so as not to interfere with the assistant. If you take measurements yourself, you will have to constantly monitor the position of the figure, especially the legs. A bent knee will inevitably lead to error.
Step 3
Have a helper put the end of the tape measure against the middle of your belly, at the level of your belly button. You can also hold the measuring tape. Then it goes down obliquely, to the most convex part of the buttocks, runs parallel to the waist and returns to the starting point. Make sure that the tape does not slack, but at the same time, and not too tight. It shouldn't roll over. The centimeter is graduated on both sides, and the result must be viewed on the one from which you started the process.
Step 4
For a pattern of trousers, you may need not only the total volume of the hips, but also the circumference of the upper leg. Place your leg on a chair and relax it. Wrap the tape around your thigh about 5 cm from your crotch. Make sure the tape is not twisted and see the result.
Step 5
If you do not take measurements for a pattern, but just want to control how much the volume of your hips has decreased, you can take measurements yourself. In this case, it is not particularly important whether your figure will be slightly skewed at this moment or not. The main thing is that the conditions for all measurements are the same. The general rules are the same as when taking measurements for a pattern, but a small error does not play a special role. For control, it is convenient to create a table of two columns. In the first, enter the dates, in the second - the size. Don't check your hips too often. It is better to do this every other week or even once every two weeks.
