Step 1
Buckle up and make sure other passengers do the same before riding (assuming your car is equipped with an adequate number of seat belts). Sit small children in special chairs and fasten them with seat belts. Remove objects with sharp edges from the passenger compartment - in the event of a collision, they can cause injury. If possible, equip the seats with head restraints - they will help protect your head and neck in a rear-end collision.
Step 2
Be careful when overtaking - the worst car accidents occur in a head-on collision. If it is unavoidable, put your hands on the dashboard with maximum force and your feet on the floor. Pull your head into your shoulders. Passengers sitting in the back can use the front seats as an emphasis.
Step 3
If the car rolls over, grasp the chairs while maintaining your balance. Place your head on your neighbor's lap so that he covers you with his body. Or let him do it and cover him with you. In any case, the chances of survival will increase for both of you. If the neighbor is not there, lie flat on the seat or on the floor of the cabin, with your feet resting on the wall of the car and covering your head with your hands.
Step 4
Immediately after an accident, switch off the ignition and make sure that no fuel escapes from the car. If there is a strong smell of gasoline in the air, it is most likely a leak and a possible fire. Leave the salon as soon as possible and help those close to you get out. If you cannot get the victim out, get out alone. If the door is jammed, exit through the window, smashing it with any heavy object.
Step 5
If the car falls into the water, do not panic and do not try to open the door - most likely, the water pressure will prevent you from doing this. Try to get out through an open window - you will have a little time before the car sinks. If you hesitate, throw off your shoes and outerwear, wait for the water to fill the cabin, open the window and swim out, pushing hard with your feet. Stay calm - panic will kill you sooner than water.
Step 6
When providing assistance to injured persons, do not try to pull injured persons out of the car, which is not in danger of fire. You can inflict additional injuries on them. Call the rescue service and an ambulance - the professionals will handle the evacuation better. It is in your power to apply a bandage or tourniquet to stop the bleeding.
