Radio amateurs and other "homemade products" are used to making all the devices for their needs on their own. But some details require a special approach or material that is not available. For example, not everyone can get their hands on resin for potting a high voltage transformer. There is an option how to get around this difficult moment when working on a high-voltage coil.

Necessary

  • - rod from the antenna;
  • - insulating tape;
  • - wide tape;
  • - Double-sided tape;
  • - wire with a diameter of 0.2 and 1-1.5 mm.

Instructions

Step 1

If you take a large enough wire diameter, you can get a high output power. Then the device will not need to use additional capacitors to increase the power of the device. The core of the transformer coil will be a ferrite core of the radio's magnetic antenna. You can also take the dialed transformer plates of five centimeters in length.

Step 2

Insulate the rod by first wrapping it with insulating tape, and then with wide thick tape on all sides. Take a wire for primary winding with a diameter of 1-1.5 mm, make from ten to twenty turns. Rewind smoothly - turn to turn. Do not change the winding direction.

Step 3

The primary winding must also be insulated. Pass the ends of the wire through the plastic tubes. First cover the winding with 4 layers of insulating tape, then 6-7 layers of wide tape.

Step 4

Glue double-sided tape on the sides of the coil to make the secondary winding evenly. Do not forget that you must produce the secondary winding in the same direction as the previous one, otherwise your transformer will not work. Run the first turn through a plastic tube (insulated heat pipes from a soldering iron or fiberglass tube are suitable).

Step 5

Take the wires for the secondary winding with a diameter of 0.2 millimeters. Make each row from 40-50 turns, wind evenly, without rushing anywhere. After the first row is ready, insulate with 5-6 layers of wide tape. Proceed to the second row.

Step 6

The secondary winding of the high voltage transformer you are making contains 300-350 turns. If you scored 500 or more, such a coil will have to be filled with epoxy resin.

Step 7

To maintain an even and neat winding, do not forget to stick double-sided tape on the sides, and use a wide high-quality material for insulation. Your finished transformer will work stably and with high power, but for such a result, powerful pulses must be applied to the primary winding from the capacitor.
