A garden plot is not just a patch of fertile soil from which you can periodically harvest. It must be looked after, protected from adverse weather conditions, cared for and cherished. In regions where strong winds blow, protection from wind erosion is one of the first points in the arrangement of any garden and vegetable garden. If you want to do it competently, there are a few simple rules to keep in mind.
Necessary
- - Rabitz;
- - picket fence;
- - fences for flower beds and beds.
Instructions
Step 1
Take care of natural wind protection. Tall trees or dense rows of bushes are very good obstacles to strong winds. If you have a choice, position the site so that it is protected on at least one side by coniferous or deciduous trees. In the summer, such a fence will be a reliable protection from strong winds, and in winter it will trap snow and prevent it from blowing out of your area.
Step 2
Install a fence. The mistake of many is the installation of a deaf windproof fence, which, contrary to popular belief, creates the worst atmosphere on the site. The fact is that air currents must necessarily pass through your garden, providing natural ventilation, the transfer of pollen from wind-pollinated plants and air circulation. If you, hoping to protect the site from the wind, enclose it with a high impenetrable fence, and even plant thick bushes around the perimeter - the air inside will become "dead", and diseases and pests will feel much better. The best option is an openwork fence made of a picket fence or a chain-link mesh. This design is not an obstacle to air flows, but significantly reduces their speed and makes them harmless.
Step 3
Make sure that within the site, the most exposed parts of the soil are protected by trees or shrubs. Any obstacle in the path of strong wind increases the effectiveness of the protective measures and gives you another advantage. Place raspberries or gooseberry bushes on the side of the prevailing winds. Such a curtain will stop strong gusts of wind and help protect the soil in open areas. If the wind still blows on the ground, install fence fences near the beds and flower beds and make sure that there are plants in the central part of your garden that can disperse air currents. Peony bushes, sunflowers or ornamental plants with wide large leaves work great.
