A telescope is a device that picks up electromagnetic radiation from objects in the distance and directs it into focus to obtain a magnified image. The most important part is the lenses. To make the simplest workable telescope, you can buy them at any optics store or make yourself.
Necessary
- - window glass;
- - tubular drill;
- - coarse abrasive;
- - Metal sheet;
- - plasticine;
- - balsam.
Instructions
Step 1
Place a sheet of glass on a flat board and secure with three wooden planks so that they form an equilateral triangle.
Step 2
Nail the ends of the planks to the table. Insert a tubular drill into the formed triangle.
Step 3
Drill through the glass using coarse emery powder. Moisten the drilling site liberally with water so that the abrasive gradually falls into the groove.
Step 4
So that when the drill comes out of the glass, chips do not form, a sheet of metal 3 mm thick is glued to the back of the glass with hot resin. To prevent water from spreading over the glass, make a low plasticine side.
Step 5
Rotate the drill bit vigorously from side to side when cutting.
Step 6
Make a stepped grinder from bronze, brass or other metal. Grind the lens on a rotary table, after fixing the workpiece in a special holder. Peel off the convex lens with an emery wheel. Start sanding with M40 micro powder.
Step 7
After smoothing the irregularities after peeling, change the powder to M20, after 20 minutes - to M10.
Step 8
After sanding, polish the product. With the hardest resin, form a polishing pad. While polishing, let the resin cool down every 3 minutes and shape a polish on the lens to polish the flat side of the lens.
Step 9
Glue the achromatic lenses with Canadian balsam or balsam. Put the pieces of balm in a test tube, put it in a metal mug with water.
Step 10
When the water boils, the balm is ready to use.
Step 11
Place a plate a few millimeters thick on the burner set to minimum. Put the lenses on it and heat them to 70˚С.
Step 12
Drop balm on the concave surface of one lens, place it on the second lens and squeeze them tightly.
Step 13
When the balm spreads over the bonding surface, let the lenses cool down. Remove excess balm with a knife, wipe the lens with turpentine, wash with soap and rub with alcohol. Rinse with water before the alcohol dries. Place the finished lens in the frame.
