An elevator is a special device that belongs to the heating system equipment and performs the function of an injection or water-jet pump. The main task of the elevator is to increase the pressure inside the heating system. In other words, to increase the circulation of the coolant in the network in order to increase its volume.

The principle of the elevator

If an elevator is installed in the heating system, it means that it is connected to centralized heating networks, with hot water flowing through a pipeline under pressure from a large boiler house or combined heat and power plant. Despite the fact that the boiling point of water is one hundred degrees, in the system it can reach one hundred and fifty degrees. Water can be brought to such a high temperature in an open container, without any pressure. But in the pipeline, water does not boil, because it moves under pressure, which is created by the operation of the feed pumps. It is impossible to supply such hot water to apartments for a number of reasons.

Reasons for cooling water

Firstly, if cast-iron radiators are installed in the apartments, which do not like large temperature drops, they may fail. Due to the brittleness of cast iron, leakage or rupture of the radiator can occur. Secondly, from radiators heated to such a temperature, you can get a burn from direct contact with heating devices. Thirdly, nowadays plastic pipes are often used for piping heating devices. They can withstand temperatures no more than ninety degrees and can melt from high temperatures. Therefore, the coolant must be cooled.

Water cooling process

An elevator is used to lower the temperature of the water in the pipeline to the required parameters. So, the water is supplied to the heating system of the apartments cooled.

The cooling process is not complicated enough. The supplying coolant from the boiler room, through which hot water enters the house, is mixed with the coolant from the return system of the same house, through which the already cooled water returns to the boiler room. Thus, the required volume of coolant at the set temperature is obtained, while a large amount of hot water is not wasted.

The coolant is supplied through a nozzle that is much smaller than the diameter of the pipe supplying hot water to the house. In the nozzle, due to the pressure inside the pipeline, the speed is very high, therefore, the coolant is quickly distributed along the risers. This results in an even distribution of heat in the apartments. Regardless of the close or distant location of the apartments from the distribution center, the temperature in all will be the same.

To ensure stability of the elevator in operation, dirt traps, mesh-magnetic filters for water purification are installed so that batteries and pipes do not clog. The advantage of elevators lies in the stability of their work. They are simple and reliable in operation, they are not dependent on electrical power supply and are resistant to sudden temperature changes.
