The northern capital has always attracted residents of other regions of Russia, and this is natural. Visitors are attracted not only by the beauty of the city itself and the opportunity to spend time interestingly, but also by the availability of jobs. The main problem is housing, but this issue can be solved in several ways. But before moving to this very interesting and friendly city, you need to think carefully about what you may encounter in St. Petersburg.
"Pitfalls" of employment
It is easy to find a job in St. Petersburg. But a person striving to drastically change their lifestyle is not satisfied with any job. First you need to find one where either registration in St. Petersburg or the Leningrad Region is not required, or the company can provide such registration. In the first case, this is most often temporary employment, in the second, it is not a very well-paid job, which is usually not claimed by the indigenous people.
Before packing your bags, go to the Employment Center website and see the list of vacancies. It is possible that you will find something suitable there. Do not forget to look at the vacancies in the Leningrad region. Pay special attention to the Vsevolozhsk region. It, of course, belongs to the Leningrad region, but in fact it has long been a part of St. Petersburg, and you can get there, including by metro.
Interesting work can be found in the Lomonosov region, and also almost within the boundaries of St. Petersburg. In addition, there are several cities in the region where large-scale construction is underway, and workers are in great shortage, and rental housing will cost significantly less than in a metropolis.
Lodging
The housing problem in St. Petersburg is solved in several ways. There is a fairly large number of new housing on the market, construction is ongoing. It is not difficult to buy an apartment, but you only need to deal with trusted realtors.
It is rather risky to contact the first developer that comes across, even if he is actively conducting an advertising campaign and promises the most favorable conditions. If you have friends or relatives in St. Petersburg who have recently bought new apartments, consult them. You can also look for a job opportunity at a company that organizes various mortgage programs for its employees.
The second option is the exchange of housing. This is real, although the prices in your city and St. Petersburg can be very different. As a rule, an exchange with another regional center comes with the loss of a room or a corresponding surcharge. At the same time, apartments in the center are much more expensive than on the outskirts. As for the Leningrad Region, an equivalent exchange is also possible.
The third possibility is getting a job with the provision of departmental housing. This order still exists, but you will run into several problems. Firstly, according to the current Housing Code, even after working at the enterprise for many years, you do not receive the right to this housing, unless the municipality decides to leave it to you. Secondly, when you are laid off on a layoff, you lose your home. Third, jobs that provide departmental housing are usually low-paid.
To rent an apartment
The most popular option for solving the housing problem among visitors is renting a house. It is possible to provide temporary registration, many apartment owners provide a similar service. But it is not worth contacting various dubious companies that can allegedly register. The price depends mainly on the location of the house. A room in a communal apartment in the center will cost about the same as a separate studio apartment in a residential area. In addition, in the residential areas themselves, prices are not the same, the further from the metro, the cheaper. But the fact that it will be possible to rent cheap housing in the suburbs is not particularly worth counting on. In Strelna or Peterhof, prices are not lower than in the center of St. Petersburg.
Should I contact the agency? Realtors give some guarantees. The main advantage of renting housing through an agency is a contract. It may, for example, be needed if you need to send your child to school or kindergarten at your place of residence.
