No matter how expensive and of high quality the strap on your watch, there comes a time when it needs to be replaced. Even the toughest strap is designed to last between 6 and 12 months. To replace it, it is absolutely not necessary to go to a watch workshop - it is quite possible to do this at home.

a special "stud puller" or sewing needles

Instructions

Step 1

Choose a watch strap

Determine the width of the strap to suit your watch. To do this, measure the distance between the temples of the watch case with millimeter precision. Determine the required strap length. The length of the strap can vary from 15 to 20 cm. Select the material and model of the strap. The main criterion for choosing a model is the compliance of the strap with the style of the watch. It should be remembered that the appearance of the watch and its safety depend on the quality of the strap.

Step 2

Take off the old strap

Take a “stud puller” with a wide fork. Place the fork between the strap and the bow of the case so that the pin securing the strap is between the “teeth” of the fork. The hairpin has two grooves at each end. The end of the hairpin is made in the form of a pin. When the strap is installed on the watch, the pins of the hairpin are recessed into the case, and its outer grooves fit snugly against the watch case. When inserting the “stud stripper” plug, it is necessary to get between the two grooves on the hairpin. Pressing down on the pin and using the bend of the fork as a lever, remove the strap. Carry out a similar procedure with its second half.

Step 3

Remove the pin from the old strap. If the pin fits snugly in the strap, push it using a “pin puller” or any other suitable object. Pulling the pin is not recommended - it may break.

Step 4

Install a new strap

Take a new strap and insert the pins into it. Insert one pin of the hairpin into the groove of the watch case. Press the pin against the body with the groove and press on the groove so that the pin rests against the body only with the pin. Press down on the pin and feel the groove to secure it.
