Time leaves its mark everywhere, even on watches, which are designed to keep track of it accurately. Small scratches significantly spoil the look and also dull the previously shiny dial and case. Polishing will help to restore the previous look to the watch.
It is necessary
- - pasta;
- - cotton pads;
- - set of tools;
- - alcohol;
- - soft cloth and a piece of leather;
- - masking tape.
Instructions
Step 1
To find out the type of metal your watch case is made of, read the technical data sheet. You can only polish watches with cases made of steel and aluminum. If the watch is gold-plated, then entrust this delicate work to professionals.
Step 2
First, disassemble your watch and free the case from the movement. When disassembling the watch, use only special tools so as not to scratch or break them. Lay out all parts exclusively on a soft cloth.
Step 3
You can also polish without disassembly. But to do this, glue all the parts that are not polished with masking tape. After removing it, no traces will remain on the surface.
Step 4
Next, clean the surface of the case from dirt and grease. To do this, take a clean cotton pad and moisten it with alcohol, then gently wipe the metal. After this treatment, wipe the body with a dry cotton pad.
Step 5
As a polish, you can use a special paste to remove minor scratches.
Step 6
Take a clean washcloth and dab a small amount of the paste on it. Then wipe the watch case evenly. Do not rub in the same place for a long time. Polish the watch in several approaches until the scratches disappear completely.
Step 7
After finishing polishing, wipe the watch case with a clean soft material or a small piece of leather.
Step 8
Then reassemble the watch in reverse order.
