Step 1
Before starting work, mark the required boundaries of the area to be filled. Tamp and level the surface of the roller.
Step 2
Prepare a base from rolled snow. It should be 5 cm thick. Pack the snow until you can walk without falling. You can tamp with a manual garden roller. Fill the potholes in the area with wet snow.
Step 3
Along the perimeter, make a side with a height of 7 to 10 cm. Make it out of the ground or out of snow. Cover the snow roller with water. The skirting prevents water from draining and provides a flat ice surface when pouring.
Step 4
Outside the rink, leave a free space of 2 meters around the perimeter, where you will dump snow during cleaning. After the soil freezes by 5 cm, start pouring. Do this in calm and clear weather with an air temperature of no more than 5 degrees.
Step 5
If you have access to the water supply, fill it with rubber hoses, which have a nozzle with a spray. The hose must reach freely anywhere on the site. By using a spray bottle, you will get a homogeneous ice structure. Conversely, when pouring with a continuous stream, the ice will turn out to be layered.
Step 6
Hold the hose at an angle of 30 degrees to the area to be poured. In the absence of a sprayer - 35 degrees. Water should fall from a height of 1.5 meters in the form of rain, then it will not wash away the ice.
Step 7
Start watering from the far side of the roller. While gradually retreating, make sure that there are no areas not flooded with water. Fan continuously to keep the surface level. Fill in a circle with your back to the wind. Block the holes formed on the surface with wet snow.
Step 8
Fill the entire area with an even layer each time. Go to the next watering only when the water from the previous pouring freezes.
Step 9
Clean the surface of the roller regularly to remove snow. Top up with water if necessary. Fill cracks that appear with cold water only.
