Temporary residence in Russia gives a person the right to stay on its territory for up to 36 months. The legislation of the Russian Federation does not provide for the extension of the permit after the period has expired.

Step 1

Find out if you have a reason to apply without taking into account the quota. The quota is required for those who do not have family members with Russian citizenship. Without it, you are not eligible for temporary residence. A quota is an annual limit on the number of people, which is established by the Office of the Federal Migration Service of Russia for living in specific regions of the Russian Federation.
Step 3
Gather a list of documents for applying for temporary residence. To do this, you will need a certificate from the authorities of your country, which confirms that you have not been previously convicted. A copy of your passport with a notarized translation and your passport. You must have a genuine migration card with a stamp on the passage of the border. The card must be at least 3 months old from the date of issue. Submit your marriage certificate and birth certificate with copies. All photocopies of the originals must be certified by a notary. Passport of father, mother, husband or wife, birth certificate of children, passport of the child (upon reaching the age of 16). Make copies of all these documents. Medical certificate confirming the absence of HIV health certificate. Present an extract from the house register where you intend to temporarily stay. Written consent, certified by a notary, of all family members with which you intend to live. Take a personal account indicating that there are no rent arrears. You will also need: a document from the place of your study (diploma or certificate), a certificate from the place of work or study for five years, 4 photographs 35 x 45 black and white, matte, 2 envelopes, 2 folders.
Step 4
Write an application and register it with the Office of the Migration Service. The application must be submitted in duplicate. You will be given a certificate of acceptance in your hands. Within one month from the date of submission of the application, it is allowed to provide a certificate of health. The term for consideration of the application does not exceed 60 days. Based on the results of the consideration of the application for a temporary residence permit by the territorial body of the FMS of Russia, within a period not exceeding 5 months from the date of receipt of the application, a decision is made to issue or refuse to issue a temporary residence permit. At the request of a foreign citizen who arrived in the Russian Federation in a manner that does not require a visa, as well as a participant in the aforementioned state program, the decision to issue or refuse to issue a temporary residence permit shall be made within a period not exceeding 50 days from the date of receipt of the application for issuance of the permit for temporary residence or the receipt of an application for a temporary residence permit at the territorial body of the FMS of Russia, respectively.
