To survive in an extreme situation, finding yourself in the wild, you must have the skills of making fire in primitive ways, allowing you to do without matches. The extraction of fire by the friction method is not the simplest and rather laborious method, which requires a considerable amount of patience.
Instructions
Step 1
Find a dry stick of any kind of wood for the base. It should be flat and stable. If you haven't found a suitable piece of wood, use a knife to cut the one on hand. Find a suitable branch that will act as a drill. Remove the bark from it and make its surface smooth to protect yourself from splinters and calluses. Make the end of the drill bit sharp at a 45 degree angle to obtain a larger surface for friction. Make a small indentation in the base with a knife, suitable in diameter to the drill. The notch should be at the edge of the base, and a flat chip should be placed under it, onto which the coals obtained by friction will fall out.
Step 2
Place the DIY construction on a flat, hard base. Insert the pointed end of the drill into the notch and hold it between your palms. Rub your palms together, causing the drill to rotate and creating friction where it touches the base. As a result, you will get a piece of ember that will fall out onto a piece of wood that acts as a tray. Without wasting a second, place the ember in the kindling material (tinder) and blow on it so that the kindling grabs and a flame breaks out.
Step 3
Make an improvised bow by finding a stem of yew, hazel or young birch 1 meter long and 2-3 centimeters thick, and pulling a string string between its ends. Circle it one turn around the drill, place it in the hole and grasp it with your hand. Cover the area around the hole with tinder. Move the bow quickly back and forth with your free hand to simulate sawing wood. Transfer the tinder, warmed up by friction and beginning to smolder, to the kindling.
Step 4
Wrap steel wire around the block of wood and start pulling it from side to side. When it gets hot from friction, light gunpowder or film from it. Use the wood chips to make a small fire. Put some gunpowder on it. Pour the remaining gunpowder onto the stone. Rub it with another stone. When the gunpowder ignites, light the wood chips in the fire.
