The ability and experience to grow grapes does not come immediately, especially in Siberia. It has long been believed that cultivating grapes in this place is just money down the drain. There are many reasons for this: shoots and buds froze, the plant did not bear fruit and froze quickly. However, at present, this experience is yielding positive results and a rich harvest.

Instructions

Step 1

Grapes are considered an unpretentious plant, so they can grow on any land, except for wetlands and salt marshes. The most favorable soil is black soil, and it is desirable to use it for growing grapes. The location should be sunny, protected as much as possible from the wind from all directions. The south side of a house or fence can serve as a reflector for ambient sunlight and heat storage, as well as excellent wind protection.

Step 2

In order to protect the plant from severe cold, it is necessary to dig a trench, the depth of which should be 35-45 centimeters, the width of the top - 80-85 centimeters, the width of the bottom - 50 centimeters and the length of 5-7 meters. Strengthen the side ends and sides with thick boards (40-60 mm), which should protrude 10-12 centimeters above the soil surface.

Step 3

Step back a meter from the end of the trench and dig a 60x60x60 hole, the distance between the planting holes should be two meters. Pour a shovel of wood ash and half a 0.5 liter can of phosphorus (superphosphate) into each hole. Fill with a 15 cm layer of expanded clay or gravel. At the wall of the house or fence, on the side of the pit, insert a plastic pipe with a diameter of 8-12 centimeters. It will serve for watering the grapes. On top of the expanded clay, sketch out chips, pieces of slate, sticks, but there should be free space between them for the roots to penetrate. Above is a layer of earth with mixed humus (add 3-4 buckets of humus for 10 buckets of earth).

Step 4

Cuttings can be purchased from an experienced grower in early spring. These are cuts from ash, which have been harvested since autumn and preserved in winter. At the same time, you can get practical advice from a grape grower.

Step 5

In the spring, when the temperature becomes above zero, take the seedling outside for hardening. After the soil warms up to ten degrees Celsius, you can start planting the seedling in open ground.

Step 6

If the year is moderate in terms of precipitation, then the grapes need to be watered once or twice. Do not water the plant before and during flowering, or three weeks before the berries are ripe. Water generously if the grapes do not release moisture in the cut and if the winter and fall are very dry. Water shortly before pruning the grapes and sheltering them for the winter.
