Sooner or later, you will need to cut down a tree in your garden, leaving behind a stump. If you are lucky and you can fit it into the garden design, for example, by making a table out of it, then you will not have any problems. Otherwise, you will have to work hard to remove the stump. There are many ways to do this, they differ in labor and financial costs, as well as in the execution time.

Step 1
The easiest, fastest, but also the most expensive way to remove a stump is to buy a special technique. Stump cutters and stump grinders are available from shops. These devices are quite expensive and only make sense to buy them if you are looking after a really large garden. Garden societies often own this technique, and each member of the community can use it for a reasonable fee.
Step 2
There are chemical methods for removing stumps. Their main drawback is that they allow you to solve the problem only after a long period of time, but the stump will not only be removed, but also turn into dust and humus, which will serve as a good fertilizer. Take diesel fuel and pour it over the stump, and also wet a rag in it and place it on the stump cut. After that, carefully cover the stump with cellophane and cover it with earth. Within a few years, the stump will completely rot.
Step 3
You can also sprinkle the stump with salt, which will destroy the wood relatively quickly. In a year, only dust will remain in the place of the former tree. This method is bad in that the salt spoils the soil, so it can be used only if you are clearing the site not for planting plants, but for construction.
Step 4
If you have enough physical strength, you can uproot the tree stump. This is a fast and free way. When cutting down a tree, leave the stump higher so that it is easier to swing it when lifting. Take a shovel and dig in the stump from all sides to the height of the bayonet. Use a strong pressure of water from the garden hose to do this. to erode the soil in the excavated area. After the roots are exposed with a hacksaw, file them in two places and remove a 10-15 cm section of each root. Now try to swing the stump with all your strength. If this fails, wash the deeper roots with water and also remove sections of them with a hacksaw. Try swinging the stump again. Usually, even the most powerful stumps will give in after several such procedures.
