Step 1
Be aware that there can be from one to four or five blades on a propeller, depending on the size of the vessel and the purpose of the propeller. They are mounted on a special propeller shaft, which is subsequently driven by a marine engine. When the propeller is started, the blades throw water backward, it vibrates and makes the ship move one way or the other, forward or backward. Prepare the necessary materials: sheets of brass, a file, a vice, thick paper or cardboard, a simple pencil or pen, scissors and sandpaper … I would like to note that for the manufacture of propeller blades, it is best to use brass with a thickness of two to four millimeters.
Step 2
Decide for which vessel you need to make a propeller. Specify the size and weight, and for what purpose it will be used. Then decide on the type, type and number of propeller blades.
Step 3
Search online for propeller assembly drawings. Choose the type that suits you, then take cardboard or paper and draw propeller blades on it or a blade if it is the only one. At the same time, it is important to know that the blades for a self-propelled vessel should be no more than 0.5 meters, and also the exact ratio of length to width should be observed during their manufacture. The blades should not be made too narrow or too wide.
Step 4
Cut out a piece of paper along the contours you drew. Attach the resulting patterns to the brass sheets, from which the blades themselves will be made directly. Take a nail or any other sharp object and trace the blades along the brass sheets exactly along the contour.
Step 5
Cut out brass blanks using special scissors or a saw. Using sandpaper or a file, process your workpieces so that they are even and without chipping.
Step 6
Make a tapered hub. This can also be done from brass. Solder the blades to the resulting tapered hub.
Step 7
Place the resulting structure on the propeller shaft, securing it with bolts on all sides. Do not forget to use special rubber pads when attaching. Lower the boat into the water. Start the mechanism. Enjoy the performance of the propeller while riding the boat.
