Instructions
Step 1
Determine the density of the bag material, as each type of fabric requires a specific seam when repairing a tear.
If the fabric from which the bag is sewn is light:
Lay the bag, having previously turned it out on the wrong side, on a flat, hard surface. Sew a needle-forward stitch along the entire length of the tear.
Step 2
Cut off any threads sticking out of the seam, then sew fine stitches along the entire length of the break.
Steam the seam through damp gauze.
Step 3
For jersey sacks, mend the break with a simple “knit stitch”. At the same time, it is recommended to choose a thread that exactly matches the tone of the fabric. Make the stitches large enough, otherwise the fabric loops may "creep"
Step 4
Before sewing bags made of corduroy, velvet or synthetics, be sure to process the edges, in difficult cases (synthetics) - singe them, so the fabric will not "crumble".
Step 5
Turn the garment inside out and sew the tear seam with fine stitches, then turn the bag to the right side and straighten the pile.
Press a small piece of non-woven fabric on the wrong side of the seam to make the seam stronger.
Step 6
If the gap on the bag is too big, embroider the hole with special threads. In order not to injure the fabric, you can sew on embroidery or stick it with glue, but still grab the edges with a blind seam.
Step 7
Sew on a special trim, such as lace, that will run all over the bag.
Step 8
Show your imagination, sew a unique rag emblem in place of the hole, for example, the name of your favorite music group, manufacturer of sports or other goods, etc.
