A rampage of elements this summer broke out in Siberia: an abnormal heat caused severe fires that destroyed huge areas of the forest, and also contributed to drought. In such a situation, the main owners of the Siberian taiga, the brown bears, were left without a home and food. In search of food, they began to move closer to cities.
For several months, Siberia was engulfed in fires caused by strong anticyclones that brought sultry summer weather. Only now, towards the end of August, has the climate become cooler. But this will no longer save more than a million hectares of forest destroyed by fire. Due to the drought, there is no harvest of pine nuts, all the rest of the food is burned up. In such a situation in Siberia, bears moved closer to cities, to people.
The main target of bear sorties is food waste and livestock. In the Tomsk region, five cases of clubfoot attacks on Hereford cows imported from Europe with "marble" meat were officially registered. Scientists believe that such a choice of food does not mean that bears are gourmets. It's just that Russian cows have a genetic fear of the brown forest dwellers. Guests from Europe do not have one, and therefore become easy prey for a hungry bear.
Having moved closer to the cities, bears make forays into vegetable gardens. For example, residents of the Novosibirsk region found a bear sleeping in a cabbage on their plot. Before that, he ate three heads of cabbage.
Unfortunately, the bears moving closer to the cities have to be shot. For humans, these animals pose a mortal danger. Firstly, being deprived of the familiar environment, the bear begins to get very nervous. Secondly, a hungry animal purposefully goes hunting, so its aggressiveness reaches a high level.
In addition to natural disasters, the growing population is also pushing bears closer to the cities. The fact is that hunting this animal is a very expensive pleasure that few people can afford. There are more and more bears and it is difficult for them to divide the territory among themselves. Therefore, they begin to coexist with a person in a dangerous proximity to the latter.
