If the car glass is cracked, it can be repaired. Such repairs will stop the propagation of cracks that usually surround the chip and halt the destruction of the glass. Repairing is always cheaper than replacing glass, and its strength remains practically the same.
Necessary
- - polymer for sealing cracks and stakes;
- - Ultraviolet lamp;
- - injector for polymer application;
- - Sander.
Instructions
Step 1
Chipping always represents a thinning of a section of glass as a result of its part flying out from the surface as a result of mechanical action. To remove it, fill the chip with a special polymer, having previously cleaned and degreased it. It is important that the refractive index and other optical properties of the polymer, after solidification, fully correspond to those of glass.
Step 2
Fill the chip with polymer using a special injector and fill all internal cavities, cracks around the chip. In order for the chip to be invisible, the polymer must adhere (bond) to the glass as much as possible. To do this, ultraviolet rays from the lamp are directed to the polymer, according to the instructions. After that, the surface must be sanded. As a result, the chip is practically invisible, and the strength of the glass is restored by 97%.
Step 3
If there is a crack on the windshield from a chip, stop it. To do this, visually determine the point where it ends. Drill the glass at this point. Then, pressurize the crack and the resulting hole with polymer. When the resin has finished curing, sand this area of the glass by hand. After this procedure, the crack will stop spreading. Make this repair only on fresh cracks. If the repair is delayed, the number of cracks due to vibration will become such that it will be cheaper to simply purchase new glass.
Step 4
When choosing a polymer, be guided by the type of damage to be repaired. They differ in toughness and strength after hardening. A distinction is made between polymers for sealing cracks and chips in headlights, and different polymers are used for sealing long and medium-sized cracks in glass. Only with the right materials can you get a guarantee of a successful repair. Therefore, at the stage of polymer selection, it is better to consult with a specialist.
