A rubber boat is an essential transport for any fisherman. It allows you to quietly and relatively easily get to any place in the reservoir. The disadvantage of a rubber boat is the ease of damage to the cover, it is easy to pierce it with a hook, hook, knife and even a sharp knot. The main thing is to notice a puncture or cut in time and repair the rubber boat.
It is necessary
- - soap;
- - scissors;
- - material for the patch;
- - video;
- - heavy load;
- - rubber glue;
- - sandpaper;
- - nylon threads and a needle;
- - gasoline or acetone.
Instructions
Step 1
To locate the puncture site, pump it up and put it in water. It is best to do this on the pond, but if you want, you can fit in the bathroom too - just do not pump the boat to the end and inspect different parts of it one by one. Or just lubricate the suspicious areas with soap suds. Places of punctures or cuts you can find by bubbles, mark them with a marker or pen.
Step 2
Select the material for the gasket. It is best to use the flap that comes with the new boat, but if it is not already there, buy a set of patches from a fishing or hunting store. As a last resort, you can use other rubber flaps, as long as they are of the correct size.
Step 3
Cut the patch so that it overlaps the damaged area with a margin of 2-3 cm. Round the edges so that they do not peel off during use, the best shape for the patch is round or oval.
Step 4
Sew up a large gap with nylon threads, the stitches should be small and frequent.
Step 5
Sand the area around the puncture and the inside of the patch with sandpaper so that the glue adheres better. Then rinse the materials with water, dry and degrease with gasoline or acetone.
Step 6
In order to glue the boat, take a special rubber glue (glue 4010, 4508, 88N, 4NBuv, self-vulcanizing adhesives, unvulcanized rubber compounds in organic solvents are suitable). If the glue is too thick, thin it with solvent, stir and shake.
Step 7
Apply a thin layer of glue to the patch and the boat. After 10-15 minutes, check with a knife blade - the glue should dry out and hardly stick. Apply another layer of glue and press the patch to the surface of the boat.
Step 8
Smooth the patch well, roll it with a roller or other cylindrical object to expel air. Place a heavy object on top and leave for 24 hours. Although the glue will dry after 24 hours, do not inflate the boat for another 1-2 days to achieve maximum bond strength.
