After installing SP1a, the Internet Gateway Discovery and Management Client application is considered optional in Windows XP and can be uninstalled by the user.
Instructions
Step 1
Call the main OS Windows XP menu by clicking the "Start" button to remove the optional component of the "Internet Gateway Discovery and Management Client" system, and go to the "Control Panel" node. Expand the Add or Remove Programs link and use the Add Windows Components option.
Step 2
Select the "Network Services" item and expand it by clicking the "Contents" button. Uncheck the box next to "Internet Service Discovery and Control Client" and confirm your selection by clicking OK.
Step 3
Save the changes by clicking the "Next" button, and authorize the removal of the selected component by clicking the "Finish" button. Restart your computer to apply the saved changes (for Windows XP).
Step 4
Press the Win + K function keys at the same time to invoke the Windows 7 Run dialog and enter cmd in the Open field.
Step 5
Authorize the launch of the command line utility by clicking OK and enter the value ipconfig / all in the test field of the command interpreter. Look for the line named "Default Gateway" and use the syntax ping ip_address_ of_used_ gateway to verify that it is working (for Windows 7).
Step 6
Reboot the device you are using to access the Internet if you cannot ping, and exit the installed firewall and anti-virus application.
Step 7
Restart your computer and reconnect your Internet access device to fix the existing error (for Windows 7).

Do not use the recommendations found on the Internet for editing the sysoc.inf system file in the% windir% inf directory, as this can lead to a malfunction of the entire Windows operating system.
