The work of a professional model, despite its apparent simplicity, includes many skills. A photo model must be able to quickly transform, look organic and at the same time remember every second about her task, the concept of shooting, the specifics of the shooting location, etc. You are unlikely to be able to act as flawlessly without special training. However, a few basic principles of working in front of the camera can be memorized in order to know how to behave on set.

Step 1
The main task in photography is to forget about the existence of the photographer and the fact that you are in the studio. You should abstract as much as possible from the situation and focus on yourself, on your emotions, living your own or someone else's (invented) life.
Step 2
If you come for a portrait shooting, your task is simplified - you do not need to get used to the role, you just need to be yourself, behave naturally, just like in ordinary life. To make it easier, you can take with you familiar objects from home - your favorite book or toy, sometimes they come to the shooting with a pet - in their company, even the most squeezed person is liberated. Of course, you should discuss the concept of shooting with the photographer in advance so that the appearance of a dog or hamster in the studio does not come as a surprise to him. You can also jump or dance in front of the camera to relieve stiffness and distract yourself from thinking about how you look in the frame.
Step 3
You may have to play a certain role in the shot. In this case, you will need to study or come up with, down to the smallest detail, the character of the character you will portray. It's akin to preparing an actor for a role. Even if you live in the image for only 10-15 minutes in front of the camera, you need to imagine the whole biography of the hero. Only in this case you will understand how such a character can move, what facial expressions are characteristic of him.
Step 4
You will have to work out different tactics of behavior if the purpose of the photoset is to show clothes, cosmetics, hair styling products, etc. This is a task within the power of professional models. However, if you had to participate in such a shoot without preparation, try to prioritize correctly. Here you also have to play a certain role, but the character of this character fades into the background. The first one is the product on display. You should not only not "suppress" it with your personality, but also emphasize, actively demonstrate.
Step 5
Practice in front of the mirror in advance, determine in which poses and angles you look better, remember them. On the set, before shooting, try homework already with the product you are advertising. For example, look to see if the features of the cut of the dress are lost when you take the chosen pose. When shooting, do not stay in one position for a long time. After making sure that the photographer has taken several frames in 5-10 seconds, keep moving.
