Sometimes punctures happen in life, this also applies to PVC inflatable boats. After all, protruding driftwood, glass and reinforcement rods are not at all uncommon in reservoirs. This material is quite easy to repair and unpretentious in operation, therefore, most inflatable boats are currently made from it. It is best to repair the boat in the garage so that the glue can dry completely, although this can be done both in the field and on the water.

Necessary

  • - a repair kit (included with the purchase of a boat);
  • - pencil;
  • - scissors;
  • - roller;
  • - hairdryer;
  • - brush;
  • - solvent "646".

Instructions

Step 1

First of all, you need to cut out a patch of the size and color you need from a strip of material, they are included in the boat repair kit. The patch can be absolutely any shape, but it is desirable that it be oval or round. In the field, you only need to cut corners from a rectangular or square workpiece. The maximum length or diameter of the patch should be 3-5 centimeters longer than the cut or puncture itself.

Step 2

The boat must be in a deflated state, if it is inflated, the patch will simply not be able to hold due to the constant air pressure. Spread out the damaged area on a level surface and place a boat floor or board. Now you need to degrease the gluing site and clean it from dirt with a cloth soaked in solvent. You can use acetone, and in the field, alcohol will do. You should not sand the material with sandpaper, as many do - this will only harm the boat.

Step 3

Attach the prepared patch to the cut and outline the future gluing with a simple pencil. Next, apply glue to both glued surfaces with a brush and let it dry a little. After 10-15 minutes, repeat the same procedure again and let the glue dry.

Step 4

After 5 minutes, you can start the gluing process itself. Lightly touch the glue, it should be dry, but stick slightly. In order to activate the glue, it is necessary to heat the patch itself and the damaged area. To do this, you can use a regular lighter or hairdryer. But you need to act especially carefully so as not to ignite the material, but only to heat it. Carry out this operation quickly so that the glue does not have time to dry completely during this time.

Step 5

Now carefully apply the patch to the bonding surface of the damaged boat. But this must be done so that no air bubbles remain under the patch. Roll thoroughly with a hard roller. If there is no roller at hand, then you can use any available means, be it a meat grinder handle or a knife handle. Then try not to bend the material at the gluing points, leave it to dry for 2-3 days (at least a day).
