Removing glue stains is a very difficult task, and a high-quality composition is completely difficult to clean from the surface on which it is designed to firmly adhere. You can get rid of the glue by dissolving the stains using various natural and chemical solvents. But which ones are the most effective?
Natural solvents
A universal solvent of natural origin is water, with the help of which you can remove stains from carpentry, vegetable, stationery and PVA glue. To do this, you need to quickly wipe the fresh stain with a rag and rinse the stained area (on clothes, upholstery or other surface) until the glue residues completely disappear.
If the glue spot has dried up long ago and hopelessly, it is not possible to remove it with water.
Vegetable and baby oils have proven themselves well in dissolving glue, with any of which you need to generously grease the stain, leave it there for a while, and then rub the oil into the glue again. It will begin to lose its adhesive properties and will mix with this "solvent", since some types of glue are oil-based. After treating the stains, the residues are simply removed, and the surface is rinsed with water.
Can dissolve glue and regular vinegar. You need to apply a sufficient amount of it to the stain and wait 20 minutes. The glue will begin to dissolve and can be easily removed with a cloth. An effective solvent is also a baking soda paste prepared according to a simple recipe - a tablespoon of baking soda to a teaspoon of water. This mass must be applied to the stain, wait for it to dissolve and rinse with warm water. Vaseline is also famous for a similar effect, the fat content of which breaks down the glue molecules.
Chemical solvents
An excellent solvent is alcohol, which breaks down and dissolves many adhesive bonds. After applying alcohol to the glue spot, after a few minutes it will begin to soften. After that, the remnants of the glue can be easily removed with water and a rag. Acetone has a similar effect, which you need to moisten a cotton swab and place it on the stain. After a few minutes, the glue will dissolve and can be wiped off with an old toothbrush.
Acetone must be used with caution on some synthetic materials as it can damage them.
Also, glue dissolves well such substances as gasoline, turpentine, white spirit, paint thinner or ammonia. They are used in the same way as acetone, however, to facilitate removal, the adhesive can be softened before applying the solvent with the included hair dryer. After that, it will dissolve much faster and more willingly, and in the end, the stain can be gently scraped off with a convenient handy object.
