Thunderstorms are one of the most dangerous natural phenomena for humans. During a thunderstorm, a spark discharge of electricity occurs - lightning, which can cause death of a person. There are a number of rules, following which, you can significantly reduce the risk of getting struck by lightning.
Instructions
Step 1
To protect buildings and various structures from lightning, install grounded lightning rods (in fact, “lightning rods”), which are high metal masts.
Step 2
Beware of a lightning strike when you are directly in the area of a thunderstorm front, that is, peals of thunder follow immediately after a lightning flash. The speed of light is much faster than the speed of sound, so the more time passes from lightning to thunder, the farther from you a thunderstorm.
Step 3
During thunderstorms, do not talk on the phone, as lightning can enter the wires. Also turn off electrical and radio devices, mobile phones, stay as far away from electrical wiring as possible, as well as metal objects.
Step 4
If you are outdoors, do not stand under tall and, especially, separately growing trees. Never swim during a thunderstorm or even try not to be near bodies of water. From high places, go down to the lowlands.
Step 5
If there is no shelter (open area, field), try to find some low place or hollow, squat down and wrap your hands around your knees so that as little body surface is exposed to electricity.
Step 6
A car can serve as a shelter if it is dry and you close all the windows.
Step 7
Such a phenomenon has been studied very little, as it is extremely rare. The basic rules of behavior if you saw a ball lightning: do not make sudden movements, slowly step out of its path, open the window in the room, if possible. Never throw any objects into the ball lightning - it can explode, and a person can get injuries of varying degrees of severity, including cardiac arrest. If someone does get hit by ball lightning, move the person to a ventilated area, cover with a warm blanket, and call a doctor.
