However, whatever the origin of the seeds, they do not guarantee a high yield of onion sets, if you do not follow the rules of sowing and growing. And such rules exist.

Step 1
Process the onion seeds. For better germination and protection against diseases, wrap the seeds in a cloth bag before sowing and lower them for 10-15 minutes, first in hot water (45-50 ° C), and then in cold water for 1-2 minutes. Additionally, you can insist in one liter of water 2 tablespoons. wood ash and immerse a bag with nigella in it for 10-12 hours. You can sow after this treatment in 2-3 days. If you bought nigella on the market, disinfect it. To do this, prepare a pale pink solution of potassium permanganate and dip the seeds in it for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Prepare a bed for seeding nigella. The bed should be located in an open, sunny place. Sevok grows well in areas where cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage, peas used to grow. Add manure humus or compost (3-4 kg per 1 sq. M.) And peat (2-3 kg) to the soil. Do not forget about mineral fertilizers, add 1 sq. m 1 tbsp. nitrophosphate and superphosphate and 3 tbsp. wood ash. Spread fertilizer evenly over the entire area set aside for the garden bed, and dig up the soil to a depth of 18-20 cm.
Step 3
Form a low bed 1-1.2 m wide. Tamp it lightly with a shovel. Pour with a solution of copper sulfate (1 tablespoon per bucket of warm water) at the rate of 2 liters per 1 sq. meter. Cover with plastic wrap for 1-2 days.
Step 4
Sow seeds (in central Russia this is usually done on April 20-25). For convenience, mark the garden bed: step back 10 cm from the edge and make along 3 grooves at a distance of 5 cm from each other. The depth of the grooves is 2 cm. Then back out 12-15 cm and again draw 3 grooves along, etc. This arrangement is considered the most convenient for further maintenance of crops. Sow the seeds in the grooves and sprinkle with earth. Slightly compact the topsoil and water the garden bed at the rate of 2-3 liters of water per square meter. meter.
Step 5
Further watering (before germination) is carried out very carefully so as not to wash out the garden bed and not wash the seeds out of the grooves. Water with the finest watering can once every three days. To ensure friendly and fast germination, you can cover the bed with foil or covering material in 1 layer.
Step 6
Reduce watering when emerging. If the weather is favorable in May-June, water the garden once a week, and if the weather is hot and dry, 2-3 times a week at the rate of 6-8 liters per 1 sq. m. In July, reduce watering even more. during this period, the ripening of the bulbs is already taking place. Water as the soil dries up, preventing the feathers from wilting. If seedlings are very frequent, be sure to thin them out.

Weed regularly to prevent weeds from taking root. Pulling out large weeds, you can accidentally pull out neighboring bulbs. However, the bulbs just need to be moved from their place, and they will stop growing and die. Sprinkle the garden well before weeding so the weeds can be easily removed.

Feed onion sets. Dissolve 1 tablespoon in a 10 liter bucket. liquid sodium humate (or 1 tablespoon of urea, or 2 tablespoons of fertilizer "Ideal") and water the garden at the rate of 3 liters per 1 sq. m.
