Instructions

Step 1

Show special attention to banknotes in denominations of one thousand and one hundred rubles, since they are the ones most often counterfeited. When counterfeiting a banknote, one of the most difficult tasks for a counterfeiter is the selection of paper. When making money, a special grade of paper is used, which is very difficult to reproduce in artisanal conditions. That is why counterfeit banknotes usually differ from real ones in paper quality. Take a bill and listen to how it crunches. A counterfeit banknote has a different crunch, the paper may differ from the paper of a genuine banknote in thickness.

Step 2

Pay attention to the micro-perforation made on the high denomination notes. The holes should be perfectly round and even. When issuing money, the perforation is applied by a laser method; counterfeiters usually fail to reproduce it. Therefore, holes are punched or absent altogether, counting on inattention.

Step 3

Look at the metallized security thread, it should go into the paper and reappear. Counterfeiters can imitate it by sticking strips of foil onto paper. In this case, it is easy to distinguish a fake - if you look at a genuine bill in the light, you can see that the security thread is solid. A fake will have it torn. It should be noted that this only applies to primitive forgeries, for high-quality thread it can almost completely correspond to the original.

Step 4

On genuine banknotes, some elements, for example, the emblem of the Bank of Russia, are made with optically variable paint. When you change the angle of inclination, the emblem changes color. Criminals cannot reproduce this effect, so they use paint that changes not color, but shade when tilted.

Step 5

Pay attention to watermarks, they should be visible in the light. In this case, lighter and darker areas of the watermark image will be visible compared to the background of the paper.

Step 6

The inscription "Ticket of the Bank of Russia" must be embossed. True, counterfeiters have long learned to reproduce this effect, so it cannot serve as a guarantee of the authenticity of a banknote. There are other security features on Russian banknotes, but usually only bank employees use them.

Step 7

If a counterfeit banknote is printed on a laser printer, it is displayed, firstly, by the smoothness of the paper, and, secondly, by the fragility of the ink. It is enough to bend the bill and run it strongly along the fold with your nails so that a white stripe remains on the bill.

Step 8

In order to protect yourself from counterfeit bills, look not only at the money, but also at the person from whom you receive it. Most often, sellers of counterfeit banknotes try to buy some inexpensive product on them in order to get change in real banknotes. You may be asked to change a large bill - for example, a five thousandth. To be guaranteed to protect yourself, do not go towards such requests.
