Step 1
Starting a tank engine in storage conditions in an open area includes a number of preparatory steps prescribed in the manual for operating the tank. First of all, check the electrolyte level in the batteries.
Step 2
Installing batteries at a workplace in a combat vehicle requires certain physical efforts due to the large mass of the battery. With the help of the crew, secure four batteries in the cells. Check that the working terminals are securely connected.
Step 3
Make sure there is diesel in the tanks. Install the fuel switch to one of the internal tanks. Pay particular attention to the brand of diesel fuel poured into the tank. It must correspond to the season, temperature conditions.
Step 4
All-season oil M-16IHPZ is used in the tank engine lubrication system. Open the filler neck and check the oil level with the dipstick. It should match the mark on the dipstick.
Step 5
After turning on the battery power, determine the temperature of the oil and coolant and electrolyte by the sensors. These indicators have a significant impact on the starting power of the starter.
Step 6
At low temperatures in the lubrication and cooling systems, start the preheater, which is installed on the tank. The coolant heated by the heater will warm up the tank engine and create normal conditions for starting it up.
Step 7
After you have checked all the support systems of the tank engine and heated the oil and coolant, start with the starter. You can start tanks with diesel engines not only with a starter, but also with compressed air from two air cylinders. In addition to these methods of starting the tank, the combined start of the engine using a starter-generator and air is widely used in the troops.
Step 8
If you failed to start the engine of the tank using the listed methods, fit another tank to your tank and make an electric start using the power plant of the other vehicle. On tanks with diesel engines, the method of starting with the help of a tug is widely used.
