The ancient Chinese believed that a person participates in life on the same rights as the earth and the sky. He is an active force, which is considered not only dependent, but also capable of influencing the world around him and fate.
What is the Book of Changes
To most of our contemporaries, the Book of Changes is known as the Chinese divination system. However, in its original form, the I Ching was a Chinese book on philosophy that dealt with changes in destiny. Initially, the work had the title "Canon of Changes".
Among the population of China, almost every family has such a book. The Chinese believe that it contains an ancient wisdom, according to which our life is an alternation of various situations that arise as a result of the struggle between the forces of light and darkness. In divination according to the Book of Changes, each of these situations is symbolically indicated by one of the hexagrams.
What a hexagram looks like
The Book of Changes or the Canons of Changes consists of 64 symbols, called hexagrams, each of which expresses a particular life situation in time from the point of view of its gradual development.
Each hexagram consists of six lines, the alternation of which depends on the random appearance of heads and tails on three coins (branches of yarrow can also be used). As a rule, such hexagrams are compiled starting from the bottom, and a special table is used to find the corresponding interpretation.
These lines are called "yao" and are divided into two types. The first type includes solid lines, which are called nines and, as a rule, are drawn in white. The second includes dashed lines called sixes and drawn in black ink. This difference in color symbolizes "yin" and "yang", or light and darkness.
It is generally accepted that the lower three stripes (or trigram) symbolize the external world, and the upper three - the inner world of a person.
Interpretation of hexagrams
It is believed that all 64 hexagrams represent a complete picture of the past, present and future. There are many different interpretations in the book, and the result depends only on you.
For example, a hexagram consisting of six solid lines symbolizes a good sign. And its literal interpretation is as follows: "Expect major changes in no later than six months. The time favors your undertakings. In your personal life, you have a certain uncertainty, you need to clarify it."
However, it is worth remembering that when divining from the Book of Changes, you cannot ask the same question several times, even if the answer does not suit you.
