To carry out subject shooting at home, special equipment is usually used - a lightbox. This design provides shadow-free illumination, which greatly improves the quality of photos. How to make a lightbox with your own hands?
Necessary
- - cardboard box;
- - knife;
- - scissors;
- - glue;
- - cardboard;
- - sheet of white Whatman paper;
- - ruler or tape measure;
- - household halogen floodlights;
- - marker;
- - white fabric or tracing paper.
Instructions
Step 1
Select the correct size cardboard box. You should be aware that the size of your lightbox will depend on the size of the box and, as a result, the size of objects that can be photographed in it.
Turn the box side up. Measure a distance of five centimeters from each face using a ruler. Make the appropriate marks with a marker. Connect the resulting points in such a way that you get a frame. Repeat all steps on the two adjacent sides of the box. The bottom, back and top of the box do not need to be marked.
Step 2
Carefully cut out the resulting rectangles with scissors. Cut off the top of the box, leaving the bottom and back.
Step 3
Cut to size and place an extra piece of cardboard on the bottom of the box.
Step 4
Cut 16 strips 5 centimeters wide from whatman paper. The length of the strips should match the dimensions of your box. Stick them carefully on the inside of the future lightbox.
Step 5
Measure and cut a piece of Whatman paper so that it covers the back and bottom of your lightbox. Gently paste it into the box.
Step 6
Take a white cloth or tracing paper, cut to size, and carefully tape the sides and top of the box.
Step 7
Place the spotlights so that the subject is evenly lit from all directions. It should be noted that halogen floodlights get very hot during long-term operation, therefore it is recommended to install them on a stand. To change the light and shade, the position of the lighting fixtures and their number can be changed.
Set the white balance mode on a sheet of Whatman paper. Your lightbox is ready to go.
