Step 1
When bent, the metal is simultaneously stretched and compressed. So that the pipe does not burst at the same time, and it does not bend inward, a spring should be inserted into it, which, when the pipe is bent on the knee, will hold its walls. The spring can be removed by pulling it out by the long wire.
Step 2
You can protect the pipe by filling it with dry sand. After filling, clamp the pipe in a vise and heat it in the place where it needs to be bent. To keep the vise strong, do not heat the pipe near it. Soon, the dross will start flying off the pipe. This means that the sand has warmed up.
Step 3
If the pipe has warmed up, determine visually: the steel pipe will take on a bright red color. The evidence of the heating of the aluminum pipe will be the paper, which began to char when brought to it. On the other hand, a galvanized pipe, on the other hand, cannot be bent when heated, as this may damage its coating.
Step 4
In addition to the vise, pipes can be bent in a pipe clamp. Small pins are screwed into a metal plate with holes. They should be rearranged so that the pipe bend is of the desired shape and radius. However, it is not always possible to ensure that the pipe is bent exactly as it should. Most of all, such a device is suitable for bending pipes of great length.
Step 5
Also, for bending pipes, you can use a plane-parallel plate, initially having the desired curvature. Clamp the pipe in the clamp and start bending it along the groove in the plate. With this device, you can bend a pipe with a diameter of up to 4 cm.
Step 6
With the help of a pipe bender (Volnov's machine) pipes O15, 20 and 25 mm are bent. You can bend the pipe on it in the form of a bend, duck, staple or roll. To do this, lay the long side of the pipe under the clamp of the workbench, lubricate the bend with machine oil and bend the short side.
Step 7
To bend a Ø28 mm pipe, use a special pipe bending machine. Set the required bending angle of the pipe on it, and, inserting it into the machine, bring the handles together. Using any tool, measure the length of the pipe only after bending. The size obtained in front of it is blank.
