Sheremetyevo Airport is one of the three main airports in Moscow, which has international status. This ensures a large flow of passengers towards the airport, which means many kilometers of traffic jams. However, there is a way to get to the airport bypassing this problem.
Public transport and car
Sheremetyevo Airport is connected to the main part of the city by three routes: bus number 851 and route taxi number 949, which almost completely duplicates the trajectory of the bus, go to the airport from the Rechnoy Vokzal metro station. Bus No. 817 and its paired minibus taxi No. 948 go to the airport from the Planernaya metro station, and bus No. H1 goes to Sheremetyevo from the Leninsky Prospekt metro station.
You can get to the airport by your own car through Khimki, heading along the Leningradskoe highway, and then turning onto the Sheremetyevskoe highway. However, the difficulty of this way to get to the airport is that this direction is very often very busy, and traffic jams on this road can reach many kilometers. Therefore, it is advisable to use it only during the hours of minimal activity of motorists, for example, if you have a night flight. Otherwise, it is worth leaving the house with a margin of several hours, so as to be guaranteed not to be late for the plane.
Aeroexpress
However, there is a way to get to the airport with much less time and at the same time be sure of a specific arrival time. We are talking about the Aeroexpress - a modern comfortable train connecting the Sheremetyevo airport with the city.
In order to take advantage of this opportunity, you need to arrive at the Belorussky railway station, located at the metro station of the same name, and then, following the signs, go through the third or fourth entrances of the station to the Aeroexpress terminal. The first flight to the airport departs from Moscow at 5:30 am, the last one at 0:30. Throughout the day, Aeroexpress trains depart from the Belorussky railway station every 30 minutes, and the travel time is about 30-40 minutes, depending on the specific flight.
You can also save time in the process of purchasing train tickets: in order to buy them, you do not have to stand in line at the ticket office - you can use the ticket machine, which is installed in the train terminal located at the Belorussky railway station. Here passengers of the Aeroflot company, while waiting for the train, can independently check in for their flight.
And for frequent flyers who regularly use this service, various passes are provided, which allow you to save not only time, but also money on such a trip. So, for example, if a regular one-time Aeroexpress ticket costs 400 rubles, then when buying a pass for 10 trips, one train trip will cost 270 rubles.
