The idea of creating a safari park in the Moscow region has been in the air for a long time. There are few places in Russia where adults and children can interact with animals living in natural conditions. The closest to Moscow is in Gelendzhik. To date, it is known about at least two projects that are planned to be implemented in the Moscow region.
Back in June 2010, Podosinki Safari Park announced its intention to build Russia's first safari park in the Moscow Region. The company plans to locate the Moskovia family resort 34 km south of Moscow. This is a whole town for entertainment and recreation, which, in addition to the safari park, will include an amusement park and a hotel and tourist complex. Two years have passed since the declaration of intentions, but so far there is no talk of opening the park.
In 2012, projects for the development of the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain were discussed on the Internet. The idea of creating a safari park on this place attracted attention. It was her Internet users who recognized the most striking. According to the plan of the designers, the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain was supposed to be surrounded by a high fence, and inside, through the green zone, to build a road.
Those wishing to communicate with wildlife had to travel around the territory in cars. Along the road, it was supposed to place spacious open-air cages with animals - representatives of fauna from different natural zones. Tourists could see bison, deer, wolves, llamas, ostriches and monkeys living in their natural habitat. In addition to cars, it was supposed to use several more types of transport. Walking rafts were to run along the artificial canals, and the cable car with closed booths could be used by those wishing to look at the animals from above.
And just recently, at the end of July 2012, the Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection of the city of Moscow considered the idea of building such a safari park not in the Mnevnikovskaya floodplain, but in the village of Leninskie Gorki. It is located north of the capital, near the city of Domodedovo. The concept of the park remains the same as at the previous site. When asked when the Safari Park in the Moscow Region will open, the Department's press secretary Anna Khitrova did not name any specific dates. She referred to the fact that today its construction is “just an idea”.
