Tea rose is one of the most beautiful varieties. According to one hypothesis, it owes its name to its magnificent aroma, in which you can feel the clear notes of freshly brewed black tea. According to another hypothesis, the name was given because of the shape of the buds, reminiscent of the shape of Chinese tea cups. However, this rose attracts not only the wonderful aroma and beautiful shape of the buds, but also the complex play of shades of color on its petals.
Types of tea rose
This variety was brought to Europe from China in the 18th century and immediately attracted the attention of flower growers and breeders. Despite the fact that the tea rose is quite capricious in its care, the results of the work on its cultivation are a real reward, in the quality of which you get the opportunity to admire its magnificent flowers. Some of its species, as a result of painstaking and long selection work, have become less sensitive to cold and many types of pests are no longer afraid of them. These are hybrid tea varieties that, with some effort, can be grown even in not very comfortable climatic conditions. Therefore, tea rose hybrids can be seen in summer cottages and in central Russia, and even in Siberia, however, they can only be grown there in a greenhouse.
Popular varieties of tea roses that can be seen in Russia belong to hybrid tea varieties and the so-called floribunda and grandiflora. The floribunda species is the result of crossing hybrid tea and polyanthus varieties. These roses are characterized by many flowers, but the shape of their buds is closer to a tea rose, albeit flatter, and their aroma is less pronounced. Due to its resistance to low temperatures, this variety is used for landscaping in cities.
The type of tea roses of grandiflora can be identified by long peduncles, decorated at the ends with graceful buds, more reminiscent of the buds of their ancestor - a tea rose, than floribunda varieties.
Varieties of tea roses
As a result of crossing a tea rose with a remontant rose, the Vinerwald variety appeared with large salmon-pink buds, the diameter of which can reach 10 cm. Tall bushes with dense branches grow well in boles, delighting with flowering from early summer to autumn.
La France variety was bred back in 1867, it is one of the most beloved varieties among flower growers. Differs in resistance to cold weather and an abundance of beautiful buds with a great aroma. Doris Thistermann does not differ in tints, but the rich orange color of large buds of this variety is beautiful in itself, and looks just great on the dark green leaves. The two-color variety Cordes Perfect also belongs to hybrid tea. At the base, the petals of the flowers are pale cream in color, and at the edges are dark red.
Of the floribunda subspecies, the popular ones are the white-cream Edelweiss and the bright red Montana variety. These varieties are characterized by abundant re-flowering and are very good in hedges.
