Warehouse relocation must be carefully planned to meet short deadlines and not lose anything during the move. If the products are not palletized, try to make do with your own staff.
Instructions
Step 1
Decide on a new room. Prepare it for product placement. If the products are stored on racks, then you need to pre-install them and make an addressing system on them (if you use it in warehouse accounting).
Step 2
If the product will be stored on the floor, mark up the storage areas in advance and indicate which product to place where to ensure orderly placement of packages immediately. Think about where the furniture and additional storage equipment will be placed, if you have them.
Step 3
If you move goods from one warehouse complex to another, pre-agree the dates and times with the administration of both enterprises. To minimize the loss of useful time, it is advisable to carry out the move on weekends.
Step 4
Book transport and forklifts for the duration of the move. Try to arrange transportation with the owner of your new residence. If he is interested in you as a customer, he can make a good discount or even provide his transportation for free.
Step 5
Please note that if you are transporting palletized goods by trucks, but loading and unloading one standard truck (33 pallets) will take about one hour. Add to this the travel time and, based on the total quantity of goods and equipment moved, draw up an approximate timetable for the process. For large volumes, it may be advisable to use 2-3 machines.
Step 6
Seal the car body to avoid theft during transport.
Step 7
Before moving, be sure to conduct a complete inventory of the goods and equipment stored in the warehouse.
Step 8
Pack each pallet after checking in plastic to ensure its safety during transportation. If the goods are transported in boxes, cover them with tape.
Step 9
If you have several warehouse employees, then divide them into two teams - one in the old warehouse, the other in the new one. Assign a main person in charge of the process in each.
Step 10
After the move, also take an inventory and compare the results with the "before" numbers. In the event of shortages, try hot on the heels to find out their causes and, possibly, find losses. If this is not possible, draw up an act on the shortage that arose during the move, and write off the goods from the register.
