No one is immune from an emergency. For example, a fire can catch a person in his own home and at work. Often, only knowledge and adherence to safety rules helps people survive and avoid injury.
If there is a fire, then the most important and at the same time the most difficult thing is not to get confused and not to panic. As a rule, alarmists who have lost their composure receive the most injuries during a fire, and sometimes even die.
The moment you notice that a fire source has appeared in the room, you must turn off the electricity. To do this, it is useful to know where the shield is located, usually a staircase or vestibule. This will reduce the likelihood that household appliances in your home will explode.
If the fire is localized in one of the rooms, close the door tightly into it, cover the opening with rags, if possible wet. It is worth remembering that it is better for a person to move in a burning, smoky room by crawling, as the smoke rises upward. At the same time, in order to avoid carbon dioxide poisoning, it is necessary to apply a wet rag to the mouth and nose - this will slightly reduce the ingress of smoke into the lungs.
If the fire source cannot be eliminated on its own, it is worthwhile to leave the room in which the fire started as soon as possible. You should not try to collect and take away all things - it can cost your life. The main thing is to take documents and money, in the cold season - winter clothes. It's good if you get used to storing all documents in one place, preferably in a plastic bag.
If your house is on fire, under no circumstances take the elevator down, even if the floor is very high - anything can happen to the elevator. If it is impossible to leave the apartment in the entrance, take a position near the window or on the balcony. These are the safest places in the apartment. It will also make it easier for firefighters to spot you.
If you do not live high, you can try to descend yourself using a rope or tying several sheets. However, such a risk is justified only in the event of a strong fire in the apartment.
If you see your clothes on fire, throw them off immediately to avoid burns. And, of course, do not forget to call the fire department by phone 01 or dialing 112. Few people know that the latter can be dialed from a mobile phone even if there is no money on the account.
Remember that fires in an apartment are often caused by cigarettes, faulty electrical appliances, or improper use of household appliances.
