The punishment cell should be illuminated by a low-power electric lamp, which is installed in a special niche above the door or on the ceiling. The lighting lamp is insulated with a metal mesh so that the prisoner cannot reach or break it.
In addition, convenience elements are provided in the punishment cell. The metal bunk, which is attached to the wall, is raised and lowered as needed. Table and stool bolted securely to the floor. The table is most often additionally fixed to the wall. A sanitary unit is required.
Premises for punishment cells
The room for the punishment cell is selected by the prison administration, it may be a small room devoid of even minimal amenities, but it must have a metal door with a window.
Food is delivered to the prisoners in the punishment cell by special servants; it is served through a window in the door.
A person who has been subjected to inhuman treatment and punishment by officials has the right to complain to the competent authorities of the state. Inadequate confinement in a punishment cell may give rise to a complaint.
