Cork wallpapers and floor coverings are hygienic and beautiful, and also provide good sound insulation. They give the interior a special elegance and sophistication. However, this material does not hold its shape very well, so it is important to stick it correctly. Cork wallpaper is produced in rolls or as panels.

Necessary

  • - cork wallpaper;
  • - a knife on drywall;
  • - glue for cork or acrylic;
  • - level;
  • - metal ruler;
  • - plumb line;
  • - spatula for glue;
  • - comb;
  • - bucket with water;
  • - rags.

Instructions

Step 1

Prepare cork wallpaper. Deliver them home from the store in their original packaging. This material is sensitive to changes in humidity, so you should not break the tightness of the package. Spread the panels on the floor and press down with something heavy. It is more convenient to cut the rolled wallpaper to size, and then also spread it out and press it along the edges. The panels are usually made in one layer, the roll coating consists of two layers. They are glued in the same way.

Step 2

Prepare the wall. It must be plastered, leveled and primed. If you are going to paste over a plasterboard partition, you can do without plaster. Just prime it. Small defects of the surface do not play a role, however, the wall should be sufficiently flat.

Step 3

Consider where you will start gluing from. It is more convenient to stick the panels from the center of the wall, then it is possible to maintain symmetry. Roll wallpaper is best fixed from the corner. But options are possible. It all depends on the size of the wall and how much waste you can afford. It may also happen that the panels will have to be glued from the corner and from the bottom so that there are fewer scraps. If you still want to start from the center, draw vertical and horizontal centerlines. For roll wallpaper, draw a vertical line spaced from the corner by the width of the roll.

Step 4

Read the instructions on the glue package. If you are using acrylic glue, quickly spread over a section of the wall roughly equal to the area of one panel or piece of wallpaper. Smooth out the adhesive with a comb. Attach the panel and press firmly. Do not forget to press down on the edges as well, otherwise the layer will turn out to be uneven. It is more convenient to glue roll wallpaper with an assistant. Squeeze out all the air from under them and press well against the wall over the entire area. Glue all other sheets in the same way.

Step 5

Remove excess glue with a knife. You do not need to try to wash it with water, there will be no sense from this, and the surface will be covered with something like a white coating. Therefore, it is better to cut or scrape off glue spots, depending on their size and thickness. Roll wallpaper can be varnished, but this is not necessary. You will have to work with the panels for some time. They are usually covered with wax, which is erased during the treatment of the walls, and unevenly. It can be noticeable. Therefore, wax or polish the walls.
