  • - hydrochloric acid - 25 g;
  • - potassium cyanide - 25 g;
  • - tartar - 5 g;
  • - chalk - 100 g;
  • - potash - 300 g;
  • - iron boiler - 1 piece;
  • - water - 2 l;
  • - soda - 20 g;
  • - caustic potassium - 6 g;
  • - sodium phosphate salt - 10 g;
  • saltpeter - 60 g;
  • - iron vitriol - 20 g;
  • - calcium sulfate salt - 10 g;
  • - dry cloth;
  • - brush for gilding - 1 pc.

Instructions

Step 1

If you want to gild an iron or steel product, combine nitric acid and hydrochloric acid diluted with water, and then dissolve the gold in this mixture. Add potash to the solution and pour it into an iron pot filled with two liters of water. Boil the solution of the obtained chlorine gold for two hours, and then evaporate it. Combine the mixture with potassium cyanide and chalk.

Step 2

To degrease your watch, wipe it with a cloth coated with baking soda. Then, using a brush, coat the item evenly with a solution of gold chloride, potassium cyanide and chalk. Then carefully remove the excess liquid and let the gilded watch dry in this way.

Step 3

You can gild a zinc watch by adding tartar to the above solution. And in order to make a product made of copper or brass shine, pour a solution of caustic potassium and sodium phosphate salt into chlorine gold. The resulting mixture must be heated to a boil, and then immersed in it. After that, the watch should be allowed to dry and then polished with a dry cloth.

Step 4

Combine saltpeter, ferrous sulfate and calcium sulfate to renew the shine of a gilded watch. Heat the mixture to a boil and dip the product into it. After that, the watch should be dried over an open fire until it is covered with a dark film. Then wash it off and you will see how the thing shines again.

Step 5

You can experiment with gilding. If you try to paint on metal with a goose feather dipped in a solution of chlorine gold, then a golden pattern will appear on the surface of the watch. In this way, you can gild not only a watch, but also any other product or decoration.
