A road sign is a means of information while driving, a graphic drawing made according to a certain standard, which is installed at the carriageway. The main purpose is to inform and inform road users. It is also one of the means of regulating its rules. Depending on the functions performed, signs are divided into several types.
h2> Warning signs
This type of signs is intended to visually warn against an accident and possible danger. Warning signs include:
- railway crossing with a barrier (installed near the railway crossing with a barrier);
- a railway crossing without a barrier (the sign is installed at a railway crossing that is not equipped with a barrier);
- single-track railway (installed at a railway crossing, where only one track crosses the carriageway);
- approaching a railway crossing (set 100 m when approaching a railway crossing);
- the sign of intersection with the tram lane warns that after 50-100 m the driver will need to cross the tram lines.
This type includes about 35 different road signs that will tell the driver about the approaching danger ahead.
Priority signs
These signs are used to indicate to the actors during road traffic the sequence of passage of all intersections, carriageways, as well as some very narrow parts of the road. For example, a main road sign gives drivers an advantage when driving through intersections. If, when crossing roads while driving, the main road changes direction, a sign "Direction of the main road" is put with a sign.
On roads outside settlements, this type of sign is installed 150-300 m before the intersection. Such definitions are also placed at the beginning of the main road and in front of complex intersections. In addition, there are two types related to priority signs, not intersections, but narrow road sections, if such are found anywhere.
Prohibitory and prescriptive signs
The next type of signs is prohibitive. They are intended to indicate that the driver is prohibited from taking certain actions on the road and while driving. In contrast to prohibitive signs, there are prescriptive ones, the function of which is to allow strictly defined actions to be performed. Additional information signs are intended to provide more accurate explanations and information to the driver.
Service marks
The next type of signs, without which it is almost impossible to construct modern tracks, is service signs. Their main function is to give drivers information about the presence of service points, gas stations, hotels, etc. near the road. In addition to these signs, there are also many others that play an important role in the driving process and give road users the right to certain actions or on the contrary, they are prohibited.
